Katongo leads the Teyeni Centre research on sport organisations in Zambia, sport literature, and convening of researchers.

- Publicity and Information Secretary for the University of Zambia Sports and Recreation Council
- Certified Sports Administrator by National Olympic Committee of Zambia
- Member, National Organisation for Women in Sport, Physical Activity, and Recreation (NOWSPAR)
